“Your name is …?”

Posted Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

That’s how a person gets another person’s name. Or they started with a formal proper question – what’s your name?

As for me, I don’t really like to introduce myself using chinese name. Why? Because people couldn’t pronounce my name properly. It’s either HUEY PENG or HUA PING. Some even called by my surname – ah TAN. Sounds like Atan to me. -.-”

Plus, people don’t remember chinese name easily. Unless you’re mei mei, bee bee, ling ling, ting ting or ming ming.

That’s where ’Angeline’ comes in. The name given by my dad when I was 7 or 8.

I can still remember, I decided to get myself a ‘christian’ name that time as I envied those have one in their birth cert. Wanting to be in the same pack, I searched for a new name. I didn’t want to be the plain old Mary, Lily, Lulu. Finally – after searching for few days, I found one – Angel. Angel Tan.

The same day, I went home and told my dad that I’ll be known as Angel for that day onward. But dad said, Angel sounds common. You should take ‘Angeline’.

As not much ‘Angeline’ was heard around that time, I was delighted indeed! I immediately asked my dad how to spell the name cz my English was very bad that time. I was from a chinese kindergarten; who supposed to enter a chinese primary school but ended up at convent after parents heard good remarks about them. Haha.

Because friends from primary and secondary schools used to called ah phing, therefore ‘Angeline’ is not used until when I entered university. Nobody knew me that time – so the way to make people remember me is by using Angeline. Which is easy to them because Angelina Jolie is super popular that time and somehow I was ended up being called ‘Angelina Jolie’ plak.

-.-”"”"

Yes, until now some people still calls me that. Or they’ll be like, Angeline? Ohh.. ‘Angelina Jolie’ ker?

It’s not that I’m uneasy with people calling me that as I know they buat kacau only. Just that I wonder why people wants to associate Angeline with Angelina Jolie. -.-”

Now, I wonder if other ‘Angeline’(s) face the same problem too? Hmm..

Secret Garden

Hi!!!
It’s weekdays again!
Blah.. Don’t really like weekdays anymore since weekdays = working days. LOL!

*Check time* Walao.. It’s 10.28 d. Gonna do a quick update and then hop to bed d. Don’t know why I feel like blogging today and show to the world the wonderful flowers and fruits in mah beu-ti-ful garden. So, do bear with the less-words-post ya. :)

All the pictures were taken with mah 50mm lens. Quite blur for some as it was quite windy and cloudy that day. A good day for gardening though. Hehe.

Below were my neighbour’s flower. Didn’t know what’s it called, but it’s really nice. I want that type of flower as my future wedding flower! ROFLMAO!

More flowers. This time with a bug.

I decorated my garden with a windmill 2 months ago. I love looking at the windmill, spinning and spinning and spinning…

There’s a jambu tree in my garden. A small tree but already bears fruits. Yumyum~

The best thing is the fruits are all sweet! Hmm… Can still taste the sweetness of the guava. :P

It was quite nice taking pictures of the flowers. It made me feel bonded to the nature and just appreciate the beauty of mother Earth.

Ahh.. Small purple flower standing tall among the green leaves, looking up at the blue sky full of cotton-ly clouds.

That’s sneak peek of what my garden has in store. Time to sleep now. Goodnight :)

Mysterious Egg

Posted Thursday, March 26th, 2009
Sorry for the very late posting. Been going straight to bed half an hour after coming out from bathroom. Obviously half an hour won’t be enough to chat, facebook, plurk, bloghop, shout and edit pictures.

Even now I’m yawning. Darn.

I’m.so.dead.tired.

Last Sunday, I was woken up by my dad’s shocking news – eggs found in the garden! He asked me to grab my DSLR and followed him down to the garden.

But I forgotten to charge my battery as it has dried the last time I used it. So, I told him that I had to charge it first and shall see the eggs later.

As sun setting down, I ran to the garden with both my lens, the 50mm and kit lens, but decided to use 50mm to take the pictures. (I want bokeh-kan my picture!)

My dad had already dug up the eggs from the sand filled polystyrene box and placed them on the pottery plate at the road bank for photography purposes.

My 3rd-house-neighbours was walking past my house with their twins that time, was wondering what were I taking picture of and decided to linger for awhile after seeing the tiny eggs.

We were all wondering what eggs were that, all started to guess if the eggs was the snake’s that used to trespass our garden or the lizard’s that roams freely in our garden or something else.

Dad ended all our speculations by conducting a mini dissection on one of the egg! Using a spade and a pair of scissors! Haha!

I even jokingly asked him if he needs my sis’s dissection tool to open up the egg. Lol!

When dad saw the yolk, he thought probably this egg was still at earlier stage, the embryo wasn’t even formed yet. And even wanted to open up another one, but I stopped him.

Feeling dissatisfied, he pulled out the yolk and he found the tiny lil ‘body’ with 2 black eyes attached to the yolk.

Carefully he pulled out the yolk, and there we can clearly see which species owns those 8 eggs.

And it belonged to the familar she-lizard at our garden. I heard that there’s a he-lizard at the 3rd-house-neighbour’s garden, so probably both of them mate and tadaaa… 8 eggs hidden in the pile of unused sand in the polystrene box.

After the mini experiment, the rest of the eggs were buried back into the polystrene box filled with sand. :)

Maybe few weeks later, there will be few baby lizards running freely in the garden. Hmm, to think bout it, keeping the eggs is a good thing or bad. *pondering*

Fullhouse at NZX, Ara Damansara

What will a bunch of crazy people do when they meet up?

Hmm.. Maybe I should get that hat since it made me look feminine! AHAKS!

This is a backlog post again, for I didn’t have any news to blog bout currently. If you’re expecting Cambodia posts from me, don’t worry then cz I’ll start them in April! :)

IT was somewhere in late November when I met up with them for the last time before I head back to Penang for good. Besides making this a ‘surprise’ party for Mr. Leong (which was also a surprise farewell party for me as well), we decided to venture into new place for food instead of the ol’ Murni, Chilis, TGIF etc2.

And after reading numerous blogs and recommendation from Jess and Steven(they went there not long ago, if not mistaken), we settled for Fullhouse.

I was awed when I walked into this place. It was so cosy, modern, white, sleek, chic, and and.. I should probably stop describing on as might end up writing adjectives that carries the same meaning here. Lol!

I simply adore all the things that are being sold in this ‘lifestyle store/cafe’. But, I didn’t bother to check on the price though, as I was at the verge of being broke that month. Too many outings! T.T

We were led to upstairs to a white lonnnng table of 10 and were given 3 kawaii-looking-menu ONLY. I was like, wtfish.. Why gave us 3 menu when there were 6 of us there?

So I thought MAYBEEE they didn’t expect they’ll have many customers dining, so didn’t bother to ‘print’ much menu.

Or maybe the waiter thought that sharing is caring. LOL!

Oh well, we took turns to read the menu, placed our orders, continued chatting, and snapping while waiting for another 2 kawan to come.

One by one, our drinks came. They were very colourful, I likey!

But the thing that really caught my eyes was the stirrer. Those cute lil glasses at the end of the stirrer, awww… I want oneeee…. Eh no, I want allllllll… *greed clouded my mind*

If you look careful enough, you can spot Aaron’s signature eyebrow in the picture above. Hiak hiak hiak!

Then slowly the food came. First, Steven’s nasi lemak.

Followed by Aaron’s steak.

And Jess’s chicken chop. Very big hor the potion!

Lastly, B’s fish and chips.

If you were wondering what Mr. Leong and I had that night, I’ll gladly tell you that we ordered
their famous wok-seor chicken chop that came more than 2 hours later. T.T

You must be thinking, how could it be that long? I must be miscalculating the time.

Well, WaiSeng and Crystal came an hour late due to traffic jam had ordered and finished their food, yet our food haven’t arrived. Aaron even had second rounds after feeling that he wasn’t full, still no food in front of us. And my gastric already attacking my poor stomach that time. T.T

Yes, it was that bad. Up the extend that Mr. Leong bising-ed there and demanded to see the manager. (Don’t ever anger our Mr. Leong, lol).

And the reason of all those delay?

IS because they didn’t key in our order. -_-”

Again, I was shocked to hear that. I’m pretty sure that I wasn’t the last person to place order, moreover we ordered 2 of those, not one. So, how can they didn’t/forgotten to key in our order. Plus, we did remind them over and over again for our food when we realised that something was amiss. So, giving that kind of reason was simply ridiculous and unacceptable!

Apparently our table wasn’t the only one had trouble that night, some other table had problems too. I heard from the guys when they settled the bill downstairs, one of the customers even told to the cashier that they’ll never dine there again due to bad service.

I was like, WAHHHH! That terrible ar?!

Anyway, after we got our food, Mr. Leong’s anger gone down the drain and everyone was back to joyful mood. We had some ‘photography session’ at the table and at the ‘bedroom section’ with the props before leaving Fullhouse.

Aww.. the menu cute kan? :)

IF you ask me is it worth going to Fullhouse for a meal, I would say it’s IF you’re going for the atmosphere. The food is rather okay only so yeah, I’d say your money goes to the atmosphere, the-special-feel’ and the kawaii-looking-décors found in the building. :)

Before ending this post, I MUST MUST MUST post this pic where I look ala Paris Hilton (minus the clothing la) while B look like a nerd from school!

B don’t keeeel me ya.. *hides under blanket*

-XOXO
( Hugs and Kisses and Love and Kisses)

P/s – To the people who went with me, MANA PHOTOS! Especially the group photos, I want them!!!

68 bucks

Posted Thursday, March 5th, 2009
Everybody hates Puduraya. I don’t understand why KL City despite having the world prestige KLIA, KL Tower and Petronas Twin Tower, the world class shopping centres yet couldn’t bother to upgrade their main bus terminal.

Why I don’t like Puduraya?

Well, first the traffic leading to Puduraya is terrible especially during peak hour. Those buses going into the terminal will be stuck in the ridiculous jam for quite some time and sometimes, the bus driver will ask the passengers to get down there and walk a few distances to the terminal.

And I pitied those waiting for the bus (that including me lar) to arrive! They had to bear the excessive smoke from the buses’ exhaust, turning their pink lungs into black. And the amount of time the passengers need to wait in order for their bus to arrive and leave – making the journey longer than usual and frustrating.

I guess the core of this jam is due to no proper waiting area and taxi boarding area. The taxi will park on the inner side of the 2 lanes road along the Puduraya, and people will drop and pick up their friends and family members there too. Imagine one lane already disfunctional for the taxi and pick-drop purposes, and having only one lane to move will cause bottleneck jam a few kilometres before reaching the bus terminal.

If things not worst enough, people will just cross the busy road, making the car to brake or slow down. Even though there’s a pedestrian bridge connected to the bus terminal, people will still cross the freaking busy road. The reason – that bridge is one of the hottest crime spot (I heard). The almost closed up design and the not-bright-enough-walkaway made the bridge an easy place for the thief to conduct their ‘business’.

Last year, I was told by Hungwei that there are buses heading to Penang stationed at old KTM railway station. He told me there are two companies – the Plusliner and Nice. I was shocked to know that, as 3 and 1/2 years of studying in KL, I went to Puduraya to get a bus back home because I thought I have no choice (flight and railway train are totally out of question).

Now that I’m no longer drive to KL and bus is my only option, I thought of the buses that Hungwei told me before. So, I thought – why not try something different?

Last Friday, I went to the Butterworth bus terminal to get myself a ticket from either Plusliner or Nice!

But then, I didn’t see any counter of Plusliner, so I directly went to Nice counter and asked for a ticket to KL. When I asked on the price, he told me,

“Enam puluh lapan.”

I was like, WTFISH? 68?! So I asked him why so expensive ler.

He told me,

Oh, bus ini selesa dan bersih. Ada bagi makan dan minum. Ada pramugari serve lagi.

Immediately my mind thought of Airasia. I don’t know why Airasia, but probably the cheapest mode of transportation that have air-stewardess on board. Lol!

Mind did quick calculation. If I were to fly down, I’ll definitely need to pay more, and the amound of time I’ll spend on getting to the airport, 45 minutes spent staring at the wall at the airport, the 50 minutes flight to KL and the about an hour time used in getting to KL city will take me almost 4 hours too.

But of cz if compared to the bus heading to Pudu, it’s blardy expensive. But again, if were to sit on the bus with baby cockroaches and enduring 5-6 hours to get to Puduraya might not be feasible since time is an important factor for this trip.

Despite my mind telling me to get the 68 bucks ticket, I felt it’s wise to sought my parent’s opinion on this. As expected, mum did asked why so expensive but surprisingly dad nodded his head. Shocked, I went back to the counter to get my ticket.

This will be the first time I paid so much for a bus ticket. I should do something to it – I thought.

And that’s how the idea of blogging bout the 68 bucks seat is hatched.

The next day came, and I reached the counter by 8.45 in the morning. I showed my ticket to the same ticket seller and he gave me another ticket. He then led me to the bus.

I was thinking, hmm.. not bad huh. Got usherer service somemore. *Grin*

The bus driver was walking behind and he suddenly told me, “Jadi, tadi saya kena tunggu kamu seorang lar?”

Shocked by his statement, I asked back “err.. saya seorang aje ker?”

He said yes, and I thought he was joking until he headed right to the highway without stopping (I thought he’ll stop somewhere to pick up passengers) and I began to have slight panic.

I quickly messaged my dad and B telling them that I was the only one in the bus. Dad called to see if I was okay but I assured him that I’ll be totally fine. (even though I was abit tension ler).

I was having mix feeling that time. Part of me was worried, but another part was so freaking excited and ‘proud’ for the bus driver chauffeured me to KL only. I’d feel like a queen that time. Back of my mind, I felt my 68 seat totally worth it.

However my excitement died off when he suddenly pull a stop at the Juru rest house. He then walked to me and said..

“Kita tunggu sini untuk bus dari Penang.”

“Oh, duk bus itu pergi la?” I asked, my hope to be the ‘Queen’ dashed.

“Yalar. Takada business. Economy tak baik. Dari ferry kamu seorang aje. Penang ada berapa. Satu bus pergi KL aje. Nanti lepas bawa kamu, saya kena pergi Penang bawa pukul 12 punya.”

I was stunned. Then he continued,

“Hari ini shift setengah aje. Nanti pergi KL, kena malam satu hari situ. Besok baru bawa balik.”

He paused a while before continuing,

“Pemandu kita banyak. Bus pun banyak. Tapi tak ada orang nak duduk. Semua pergi pudu aje, takada orang ke ktm.

Then I told him that I don’t like Pudu. Too jam. He agreed, saying that he also doesn’t like to drive there. Said totally headache driving there.

“Macam itu Plusliner. Ada 4 bus, tapi takada penumpang. Jadi bos tutup dan hantar 4 bus ke Penang. Sekarang 8 bus situ penuh. Saya pun hairan. Orang Penang boleh duduk, tapi orang Butterworth takada.”

I told him maybe not much knows bout the bus going to KTM. But he refuted.

“Mana ada. Ada kain tulis besar-besar henti kat ktm. Tapi masih takada penumpang.”

Then his handphone rang and went back to his seat. At the same time, my dad called me asking bout my whereabout. I told him bout the bus exchange in brief.

I waited for my bus. As I was so tired, I closed my eyes, but not daring to sleep so I forced myself to open my eyes and played with my ipod to kill time.

Around 9.20, the bus driver yelled, signalling that the bus had arrived. I took my bags and went off to another one, thanking him for fetching me there.

And thus my 4 hours journey and ‘evaluation’ began.

The seat is comfy, I think it’s a bit wider. And ample space for long legged person. Unlike in airpla
ne where the food tray is secured behind every seat, the bus’s fold-in food tray stay hidden at the side of every seat. There’s also a small counter in front, stocking all the food and beverages. The bus is clean and thankfully there’s no weird funny smell. Lol.

A lady or should I call her pramugari (stewardess) served us drinks – a packet of Justea and a glass of water not long after passing the Juru toll. 10 minutes later, she came back with a plastic packet containing kaya bread and a bar of chocolate.

Stucked on top of the plastic packet is a label bearing the Delifrance logo, where it wrote - specially made for Nice. I was like woahhh… To my surprise, there’s an expiry date dated 1st of March, which was the next day. Swt. If you don’t see any problem with the expiry date, then let me enlighten you that I took the bus on Saturday, 28th of February. See why am I surprised now? lol.

Paiseh, it was kinda blur. My hp doesn’t have that Autofocus thingy.

Don’t know why I couldn’t sleep despite being so tired. Probably I was too excited with the KL trip gua. Lol. So, I played with my ipod.

Then an announcement was made by the pramugari, telling us that we were reaching a rest house. I was speechless for awhile. It was as though I was in plane, except for I don’t have to fasten seat belt and the white cotton candy scenery was replaced with the greenery and the blue murky rivers. Lol.

The bus stopped for 10 minutes for toilet break and resumed journey later. Then the LCD screens were on and started playing movie called Bounce. The pramugari came with coffee which I politely declined. I was so engrossed with the movie without realising that we were passing Rawang. Hmm.

Soon we found ourselves passing the KL toll, and then an announcement was made by the pramugari telling us that we’re approaching the first destination, KL Sentral. But when we reached there, only one person got down the bus.

When we’re approaching the old KTM railway station, second announcement was made. I never expect that I’ll reach KL at 1.15 pm since the bus left Juru rest house at 9.30 in the morning. It’s definitely one smooth and fast journey.

Because I reached quite earlier than expected, I had to wait for B to come. While waiting, I was looking around, observing people and admiring the old building and then my eyes caught the words on the white cloth banner advertising on Nice buses. They called their buses – executive coaches!

Goodness! I didn’t know that I took the higher end bus. No wonder ler it costed me 68 bucks.

So, the question here is – Is the entire journey worth RM68?

Well, I’m quite satisfied with the whole service thingy and the journey despite being served with one-more-day-to-expiry-bread. Also, knowing the fact that it’s actually a luxury coach than the normal buses somehow made me felt paying RM68 is reee-sonable. Lol!

Since economy isn’t that good and I’ve satisfied my curiousity of boarding an executive coach, then I couldn’t find any more excuse to splurge on transportation next time. I guess I’ll be taking the baby cockroaches bus to KL in April since I’m not earning 5 figure salary, unless someone willing to sponsor my trip there. Lolololololol~

P.s – I’d say I’ll be their loyal customer IF the ticket is around 40-50 ringgit instead of 68. (The boss or CEO of Nice Executive Coach Company, if you happened to read this, please lower your fare for the poor customers like me ya. :P )
