viii. I love Calle Crisologo.

I loveee Calle Crisologo!

I love walking along the cobblestone street and having rows old colonial houses to look at on the both side of the street.

I love hearing the sound of the horse’s hooves against the cobblestone streets, making me feel like I was in the 1930-40s?

I’m so glad that I’ve visited this place. I’m glad that I insisted on going there when Sat told me to omit this beautiful city. I’m glad that I’ve walked on Calle Crisologo and Vigan. Now I can die peacefully.

No way! There are plenty beautiful places for me to discovery. So, there’s no way of me dying so soon. Lolololololol!

Vigan is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, many thanks to Calle Crisologo. Though now most of the houses along the street have turned into museum, shops, café or inns for tourists, they’re so well-preserved and unique too, for the houses are influenced by the Hispanic, Chinese and Filipino designs.

Lovely? You bet.

We were happily walking up Calle Crisologo when we saw a ice-cream peddler pushing a cart. Since it was a sunny day, having an ice-cream would be the best thing to do at that moment. Hannah called it – the dirty ice-cream, as what the local called.

Dirty or not, we brought one to chill us down. There are 3 flavours and 2 sizes to choose from; big or small. I can’t remember the flavours, but I do remember the colour – the purplish white, white and yellow! Haha.

I took big cone ice-cream and paid him 20 pesos (RM1.46). Small cone costs 10 pesos (RM0.73).

Someone spotted the name on the ice-cream cart and pointed it out. Vangie. A little bit similar to Vingie’s name. They quickly took picture of the cart to show Vingie later. Lol.

Then we continued walking until the end of Calle Crisologo. In front of Max Chicken on the left side, there’s a statue of Leona Florentino, a Filipino poet and also the mother of Philippines women’s literature.

The ancestral home which is just on the right side of the street has turned into the Provincial Tourism Centre, Vigan Heritage Commission and Café Leona.

I only came across this café when I was in Vigan. If I knew about this place before I went there, I would have recommended all of us to go there for our lunch instead. Lol!

Located right beside Leona’s Café is a bakery famous for its bibingka (rice cake). I thought of getting one to try it on the way back to hotel, but somehow I forgot. T_T

We headed for Plaza Burgos. Near Plaza Burgos there’s a Maybank outlet and we were very ecstatic to see a Malaysian bank there. Woohoo!

See how excited Sat was. He wanted to withdraw money using his atm card, but forgot to bring them to Philippines. Lol!

We went up to the stage at Plaza Burgos to look around. Totally love the blue sky. Why the sky in Philippines so nice? *drools*

Everyone began to feel fatigue and sleepy due to lack of sleep the night before. Hannah pointed out the location of St Paul Cathedral. Then someone asked where to next. Some wanted to head back to hotel, some wanted to proceed. I wanted to do some shopping (which I didn’t at the end -.-“)

At last 3 went to St Paul Cathedral to have a look. I should have gone there, argh. I forgot that St Paul Cathedral is in my ‘to-be-photographed’ list. +_+

Luckily I took one shot while riding the calesa. *phew*

The rest of us walked back along Calle Crisologo to the hotel. Along the way, we were looking at the beautiful keychains that I wanted to get initially, but I miscalculated that it’s expensive. Darn. -.-”

We passed by this shop selling beautiful ‘<3 Vigan’ T-shirt. I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT ONE THERE! YERRRRRR!!! TOTALLY REGRETED! T_T

We went in a shop to buy drinks. What surprised me was Sat suddenly showed this big bottle of Sprite in front of my face when I was looking at the fridge magnets! The lady at the shop gave them a plastic bag to store their drink as the bottle must be returned to the shop. As the guys wanted to bring back home to Malaysia as memento, they paid 8 pesos (60cts) extra to keep it. Lol.

As we were walking, I was to obsessed with the blue sky that I looked up and that’s when I noticed floral designs on the plaster ceiling of the roof.

Then we reached the crossroad which leads to the hotel. Still feeling unsatisfied, I told Sat that I wanted to walk somemore and he should accompany me. LOL. Again, with the reluctant face he agreed and asked the rest to go back to the hotel first. Somehow the rest just joined in too. Probably all still pumped up. Haha.

The gang spotted a shop bearing my name. All asked me to take picture in front of the shop. Paiseh to the max you know! *shy*

Similar to my name, but pronounced exactly the same what! Bleks!

We continued walking down Calle Crisologo and stopped by few shops as I wanted to get some souvenirs home.

But somehow, I didn’t manage to. I don’t know what I thinking at that moment – part of me thought of grabbing the stuff; part of me didn’t want to. Sat was bargaining on a T-shirt on Vigan and asked me if I want one too, and I told him No. What la was I thinking?! T_T

In the end, I only have regret to bring back home. Huuhuu.

I went back to the hotel empty handed while Sat bought a Vigan T-shirt and a big bottle of Sprite. Potongstim to the max. Lol!

Should have just grab that 10 pesos key-chains, the 150 pesos <3 Vigan T-shirt, the 20 pesos pouches, the 100 pesos plain T-shirt. #$&@*(#&*(*!!!!

Okay, finish complaining. Now back to the story. :P

We head back to the hotel for a quick rest and shower before going out for lunch. Sat asked from the hotel staff for a late check-out and kindly they allowed us.

At noon, we went out to look for a place to eat and we ended up at Max Chicken. It must be a popular place to eat in Vigan I guess since the place was full when we entered!

Luckily one big group left the restaurant when we entered and we managed to get a long table for 11 of us. The menu came and we started ordering. Not long after that mine came.

Hungrily, I ate the food squeaky clean. The caramel bar is DELICIOUS! Yums!

After filling our stomachs, we headed back to the hotel, packed and then check-out. Sat had pre-arranged our rides to our next destination in the morning, so everything was smooth and clear. Our cars were waiting for us outside the hotel when we came down and after Sat finished the check-out procedure, we loaded our bags into the 2 cars.

We took group photos with the hotel staff before we leave. XD

Lovely group shoots.

Then it was time to say goodbye to Hotel Salcedo de Vigan and the Spanish Town. We got onto our rides and continued our journey up North. With me in the car were all the girls and Sat who sat in front next to the driver. Little did we know that we were about to have the ride of our life. Lol.
